It gives me immense pleasure that BKD College of Education for Women, Paonta Sahib is situated in the remotest part of the Himachal Pradesh in which there is huge illiteracy, this college is doing a yeoman's service to the humanity particularly the people of this hilly area of Sirmour Distt. of Himachal Pradesh, which is primarily inhabited by people with hilly tradional background. For these people, this institution has proved good luck for them because many of the girls who could not continue with the higher education being thinly populated area which has been spread over many far-away places which are beyond the reach of wide awakening. I can say with great honour and proud that people have highly benefited from this prestigious institution which has been named as Baba Kirpal Dass College of Education for women, Paonta Sahib (HP). It is a unique occasion that Baba Kirpal Dass was the contemporary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji the tenth guru of the Sikhs. It is a place where Guru Gobind Singh Ji spent more than four years of his life and he put his foot on this land by which this place is known as Paonta Sahib. Keeping in view the importance of this historical place the Baba Shri Chand Memorial Trust was constituted in 1993. The main object of the Trust was to impart quality education to the deprived population of this remote area which has been blessed by the long stay of Guru Govbind Singh Ji. The Trust has started three educational institutions i.e. Baba Kirpal Dass Sen. Sec. Public School, BKD Degree College for Women and BKD College of Education for Women, Paonta Sahib (HP).The BKD Sen. Sec. Public School is affiliated with H.P. Board of School Education Dharamshala and the BKD Degree College for Women is recognized by H.P. Govt. and is affiliated with HPU Shimla from 1993-1994. The BKD B.Ed. College recognized by NCTE Jaipur in 1999-2000 and affiliated with H.P.U. Shimla. The BKD B.Ed. College is smoothly and successfully running continuously from the last 17 years and the present academic session is in progress, though the college was initially granted one unit of 60 students in 1999-2000 which was increased to 100 students of one unit in the year 2004-2005 on the basis of its excellent performance.
I congratulate all the students, member of the faculty & Principal for doing a lot for imparting education to the poor and downtrodden women population of this backward Distt. Sirmour of Himachal Pradesh. The blessings of Baba Kirpal Dass & Guru Gobind Singh Ji are with them.

This college has been in existence since 1999-2000 which has been managed by Baba Shri Chand Memorial Trust (Regd.) and the present management is headed by renowned personality S.Rattan Singh Ex-Parliamentary Secretary and Ex-Member Legislative Assembly, Himcahal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, of Himachal Pradesh who commands great respect and regard among the people of this remote District. His contribution for the development of this area is tremendous one, particularly, it goes without saying that since this Management has taken over under his shrewdness, the education institution has developed a lot. The Management has added very spacious and properly ventilated Administrative Block. The existing building has been renovated in such a manner that it looks like a new one. The students, the members of the teaching & non-teaching staff are very hard working & very sincere to the institution. Being a historical place its geographical situation adds to its glory as it is situated on the banks of sacred river The Yamuna. The great Guru Gobind Singh Ji put his foot over here hence it is known as Paonta Sahib. The people of the area as well as the H.P.Govt.and H.P.University appreciated the noble venture of the Trust which is headed by a noble soul Baba Nihal Singh Hariyan Wellan Wale. The students get great inspiration from the blessings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji who spent one tenth span of his life at this place i.e. Paonta Sahib. It goes without saying that the concept of creation of Khalsa was conceived by the great Guru only at this place.
